We are looking for a Product Security Development Engineer (d/m/f) with a background in space products and cybersecurity. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security architectures across our satellites and space systems. You will support the analysis of cyber threats to our missions, perform security risk assessments, assess the applicable security requirements and implement a holistic Product Security lifecycle. Your contribution will ensure our products adhere to the highest standards of information security, cybersecurity and risk management, from concept across the product lifecycle through deployment and operations. Where applicable you will support cyber vulnerability management and the detection and processing of security incidents affecting our products.
You will collaborate with the Project Management and Chief Engineering of new bids to provide guidance on security governance and mission security objectives. In your role you will identify, assess and close the gaps between customer requirements and Airbus security directives and policies ensuring compliance with either of them.
Key Responsibilities
Security Architecture & Design: Develop and implement security frameworks and architectures based on Security by Design principles for space products.
Risk & Vulnerability Management: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and vulnerability analyses, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure product resilience against cyber attacks.
Standards & Compliance: Ensure product compliance with relevant standards such as ISO 27000 series, ECSS-E-ST-80C, CCSDS 350.xxx, BSI TR-03184 and other industry best practices.
Cybersecurity Strategy: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cybersecurity measures across the product lifecycle, from design to deployment and maintenance.
Incident Response: Develop and oversee incident response protocols to handle potential security breaches effectively.
Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the subject matter focal point on product security, providing guidance and training to engineering teams and stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement: Monitor emerging threats and industry trends to proactively enhance security measures and strategies.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Education: Bachelor’s or Master degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
Experience: Professional experience in information security, cybersecurity, or a related field, preferably in aerospace or space industries.
Technical Skills:
Solid knowledge of information security, cybersecurity and secure product design principles, techniques, and technologies.
Experience with risk assessment and management methodologies.
Understanding of secure software development and security-by-design practices.
Familiarity with international and industry standards, including but not limited to ISO 27000, ECSS-E-ST-80C, CCSDS 350.xxx and BSI TR-03184.
Domain Knowledge: Understanding of space missions and their specific security challenges.
Soft Skills:
Analytical Thinking: Ability to assess complex security challenges and devise effective, innovative solutions.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an open and extrovert mindset combined with the ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Collaboration: Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
Adaptability: Proactive attitude with the capacity to adapt to rapidly evolving security threats and technological advancements.
Language Proficiency: Fluency in English and German. French language skills are a bonus.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certifications in security (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH).
Experience with accreditation frameworks like CC
Experience with security tools or technologies specific to space systems.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements for space product security.
