Job description

We are looking for a highly motivated PhD candidate to join our translational cardiovascular research group, focusing on atrial fibrillation and atrial cardiomyopathy. The project combines molecular, electrophysiological, omics-based and translational approaches to identify novel mechanisms and therapeutic targets for cardiac arrhythmias. Ihre Aufgaben - conduct an independent research project within an interdisciplinary collaborative team - investigating the molecular, electrophysiological and metabolic mechanisms underlying atrial cardiomyopathy and atrial fibrillation - conducting cellular electrophysiological experiments, including patch-clamp recordings in cardiomyocytes and heterologous expression systems, and contributing to the functional characterization of atrial ion channel regulation - present and communicate research results at national and international scientific meetings Ihre Qualifikationen - you are an enthusiastic and self-driven scientist with a strong interest in translational biomedical research, capable of working independently while actively contributing to a collaborative team environment - you have completed a BSc/MSc degree in a life science discipline, such as biomedicine, biochemistry, molecular biology, molecular medicine or a related field - you bring hands-on experience in cellular electrophysiology as well as common molecular and cell biology methods, including Western blotting, qPCR, cloning and cell culture - initial experience in bioinformatics, data analysis or computational workflows is highly welcome - fluency in English is required, German language skills are considered an advantage Wir bieten - contributing to a translational and clinically relevant research area embedded in the collaborative scientific environment of the Göttingen Campus, including access to supportive core facilities and interdisciplinary research networks - A small, diverse and enthusiastic team with a strong team spirit and an open, respectful and collaborative working atmosphere - a fixed-term position, paid at 65% according to the German Public Sector Collective Agreement of the Federal States (TV-L)
