In order to support the department Airframe Materials and Processes Research & Technologies (M&P R&T), Airbus Operations is looking for a
Master Thesis "Materials & processes characterization for Future Aircraft (d/f/m)
You will support the development of the next generation single aisle by researching novel surface preparation processes for carbon fibre reinforced polymers before paint application. Your task will be the evaluation of the influence of process parameters on surface quality properties using standardized and new methods with a specific focus on adhesion testing.

Your location
You will be physically based in the lovely city of Bremen (Germany), and will work in a full transnational environment, with a diverse team with colleagues located over other sites in Germany (Hamburg), France (Toulouse), Spain (Getafe - Madrid) & the UK (Filton - Bristol).

Your tasks and responsibilities
As a master thesis student you support the project team in:
- Manage the master thesis as a project with guidance from the project team
- Perform a literature review of existing materials & processes, and corresponding test methods for the investigation of CFRP surfaces key properties
- Liaise with the different stakeholders and ensure the deliverables e.g. test plans, interim reports, presentations are delivered on time, quality and cost.
- Evaluation of the test results and provide conclusions
- Work in an transnational project team
Desired skills and qualifications
- Enrolled full-time student (d/f/m) in the area of Material Science or an equivalent field of study.
- Knowledge Extensive knowledge on CFRP and respective manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of CFRP and respective manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of surface technology and processes (pre-treatment, paint application).
- First experience with surface characterization methods for CFRP and paints.
- Fluent in English, proficiency in German would be a plus.
- Creativity and thinking out of the box.
- Experience within Project management.
